Kirsty Newton – Musical Director

Segue Sisters Carrie Marx, Jess Robinson and Kerrie Fairclough combine their harmonious singing and unique comic personas to give a fresh take on classic tunes from past, present and future.

Originally taking their influence from 1940′s singing trio The Andrews Sisters, the girls incorporate this classic style of singing to perform a range of repertoire from ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B’ to the more contemporary rock of bands such as Nirvana and Alice Cooper – to provide a cheeky comic twist.

The Segue Sisters first formed in 2009 after collaborating with the highly talented Musical Director Kirsty Newton and have become a popular addition to London’s Comedy and Variety circuit.

In 2010 they had a successful run at the Edinburgh Festival performing in ‘Arthur Smith’s Cobbled up Shambles’ (who they continued to tour with in his sell out show – ‘Arthur Smith at Large’) and ‘Itch A Scratch Event’ with the Comedians Theatre Company (Pleasance Courtyard) The girls were described as ‘every compilation show’s favorite guest’ (Chortle) and received much attention for their choice of Transport – The Segway – which they were sponsored to promote for the run of the Fringe.

They returned to the Edinburgh Festival with their Segways in 2011 – premiering their debut show ‘The Segue Sisters in…Jailbirds’ at the Gilded Balloon Teviot – enjoying guest spots on MacAulay & Co (BBC Radio Scotland), Hardeep Singh Kohli’s ‘Chat Masala’, Best of the Fest (Assembley, Speigeltent), and Chortle Fast Fringe.

The Segue Sisters are thrilled to be back on the London Circuit and as well as continuing their work with Arthur Smith, are a resident act at The Distraction Club – with Mitch Benn.  They have featured on Rufus Hound’s ‘What’s so funny? (BBC Radio 4 Extra) and recently appeared as the House singers in Ruth Jones’ Christmas Cracker (BBC2)
